Firemen Learn Water Safety

The firemen from seven stations, Kilkenny City, Urlingford, Freshford, Callan, Thomastown and Graiguenamanagh were trained in flood and fast water rescue by Kilkenny Water Safety. Each station has also been trained in using new equipment and supplied with ropes and life jackets.

The course was organised by local water safety members and Kilkenny is the only county outside of Dublin to have completed such training. Included are members of the fire service, Assistant Fire Chief John Colins and Kilkenny Water Safety Course tutors, Eddie Hoyne, Billy Brett, Andy Ramsbottom, Michael Gaule, Breda Collins and Sheila O'Driscoll.
